When is a tooth extraction necessary instead of trying to save the tooth?
Dr. Chow takes a conservative approach and always tries to save a damaged tooth first. Extraction, including wisdom tooth removal, becomes the recommended option only when a tooth is too severely damaged to be restored.
Will I be comfortable during oral surgery or an extraction?
Nitrous oxide ("laughing gas") is available to help keep you comfortable during surgical procedures and fillings, making the experience easier for patients who feel anxious about dental work.
What are my options for replacing one or more missing teeth?
A dental bridge can replace one or more missing teeth using either a traditional bridge attached to healthy teeth with crowns, or an implant-supported bridge, which is permanent and won't shift out of place.
What's the difference between dentures and implant-supported dentures?
Traditional full or partial dentures replace most or all of your teeth and are custom-made for a natural look. Implant-supported dentures are anchored to dental implants for extra stability and function, and are recommended whenever possible as the closest option to natural teeth.
Do I need a new implant crown if mine gets damaged or worn?
Yes, implant crowns — the visible "tooth" part of a dental implant — can be remolded, crafted, and reinstalled by Dr. Chow and the team at Parkway Dental of Clinton to restore your full smile.
